Karen Mehmel Mackey 1943 – 2015

Karen Mehmel Mackey, former Braniff Flight Attendant, 1963-1969, needs all our prayers as she battles cancer again. Keep Karen and Mac, former Braniff pilot, and their family in your thoughts and prayers as they continue this battle. No phone calls, please, but cards would be appreciated.

Karen Mehmel Mackey, 1963-1969, died peacefully on February 1, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Keep the Mackey family and friends in your prayers.

OBITUARY:
ARLINGTON — Karen Mehmel Mackey, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with God on Sunday February 1, 2015.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday Feb. 12, 2015 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2100 N. Davis Dr., Arlington. Interment: 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas. Rosary: 7:30 p.m Wednesday Feb. 11, 2015 at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington.

Memorials: In order to further God’s work, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Karen’s name.

Karen Lee Mehmel was born Dec. 23, 1943. As a Braniff Flight Attendant she met her husband, Austin G. Mackey and they were married on September 21, 1968 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Married for 46 years to her husband Austin, they raised 6 children in Arlington and have remained active in their parish at Most Blessed Sacrament.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Mehmel; 1 sister, Terry Anne; and grandson, Dominic Grimmett.

Survivors: Karen is survived by her dad, Francis Mehmel; husband, Austin; her six children, Robert Mackey, Kelly Tramontano, Kimberly Grimmett, Kristina Mackey, Erin Coleman, and Mary Roth and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; in addition to many nieces; nephews; and friends.
