Braniff History and Architecture Conference

BISE MEMBERS:

Hi Captain Schoknecht

I am a Friends Member of BISE and also President of Braniff Preservation Group here in Dallas. Our organization has been spearheading the preservation efforts for the Braniff International Operations and Maintenance Base at Dallas Love Field. The building has been saved and an adaptive reuse plan is underway for its restoration and rehabilitation.

In conjunction with Preservation Dallas we are hosting a Braniff History and Architecture Conference on Saturday, September 13, 2014, beginning at 10AM at Braniff Place World Headquarters Complex on the West Side of DFW Airport. The conference will feature speakers who will discuss Braniff’s history and its impact on aviation during the morning session.

A full buffet lunch will be served in the former Braniff Cafeteria featuring Braniff’s 747 Transatlantic Menu of steak and salmon. Then an afternoon session will feature speakers versed in the architecture and history of Braniff buildings in the Dallas area and the efforts being made to preserve them for future generations. A tour of Braniff Place will commence after the conference.

Tickets went on sale yesterday. Would it be possible for you to email the conference flyer out out to the BISE membership? I think they would really enjoy the conference which will feature a unique fashion show, and an array of vintage Braniff television commercials, and photographic and memorabilia presentations. The cost is only $25 USD per person and includes the admission to the conference, the full buffet lunch with unlimited beverages served all day long, and the Braniff Place Tour.

I would certainly be honored for the BISE membership to attend our conference! We are also arranging with DexMedia, the current tenant at Braniff Place (its still officially named Braniff Place) for the various Braniff retirement groups to have their monthly meetings in the Braniff Cafeteria. The cafeteria serves 7 days a week three meals a day and is open to the public. The food is SUPERB!
